Josh Sivey - Power BI – From zero to “wow” in one day!
You have probably heard about how Microsoft’s Power BI service can help bring your data to life with rich visualizations and analytic capabilities. In this session, we will work through hands-on labs to explore the components of Power BI, from data ingestion, modelling, report creation, and publishing.

Tim Mitchell - Building Better SSIS Packages

Building packages in SQL Server Integration Services is easy. Building good packages takes a bit more effort.

SQL Server Integration Services is deceptively easy to use. With a few hours of instruction or self-study, most data professionals can throw together an SSIS package. However, creating a process that simply runs successfully isn’t the endgame; enterprise-class ETL demands a higher standard.

Jen and Sean McCown - The Enterprise Maintenance Lifecycle: Problems & Solutions Database maintenance isn’t a single event; it’s a lifecycle. Aside from the maintenance event itself, there’s also reporting, error management, specialized configs, HA/DR and more. In this full day session, we'll explore the many issues surrounding maintenance and how to solve them in a way that is cohesive and comprehensive. If you’re managing more than one server, come to this session.

SQLSaturday #597 Phoenix 2017 Keynote speaker Aneesh Karve will be presenting:

    Designing a logical data warehouse.

Enterprise data would be so much easier if all of the data were available in a single, integrated data warehouse. That seems unlikely with the ongoing explosion of data formats (Parquet, ORC, AVRO), data exploration languages (Python, R, Spark) and databases (SQL, No-SQL, Graph). Enter data virtualization. Data virtualization promises "one logical data warehouse to rule them all." In this talk we'll explore the first principles of data virtualization, case studies, and emerging technologies that you can use to virtualize your data warehouse and present it as a single, accurate source of truth across your entire enterprise.

Aneesh Karve is the founder and CTO at Quilt Data. He has worked as a product manager, lead designer, and software engineer at companies like Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Matterport. Aneesh was the general manager and founding member of AdJitsu, the first realtime 3D advertising platform for iOS, acquired by Amobee in 2012. He holds degrees in chemistry, mathematics, and computer science. Aneesh’s research background spans proteomics, machine learning, and algebraic number theory.
