Conor has been at Microsoft for over 17 years – all of that building database engines. He currently serves as the architect for the SQL Server core engine for the upcoming SQL Server 2016 release. Previously he worked on the SQL Azure V12 (Sterling) release and versions of SQL Server starting with SQL Server 7.0. His areas of expertise include query processing and optimization, data warehousing, distributed systems, performance and scaling, and building large scale data-driven applications that scale effectively. Conor is a co-author of the book “Inside SQL Server 2012” where he wrote the query optimization chapter, co-author of a number of academic papers on database systems design, and has been granted 13 patents on database design.
