Welcome to SQLSaturday #767
October 27th, 2018 (Mahoney State Park)
SQLSaturday is a day-long free training event for SQL Server professionals and those wanting to learn about SQL Server. Admittance to this event is free, all costs are covered by donations and sponsorships. Please register soon as seating is limited, and let friends and colleagues know about the event.
We bring in a lot of volunteer speakers, we have lunch on site catered by Mahoney State Park. Speaker's presentations range from beginning to advanced, covering a host of SQL Server related products and technologies.
In addition, you can network with fellow SQL Server professionals, people who do what you do. You'll even have a chance to win cool door prizes!
SQLSaturday will be held at Peter Kiewit Lodge, E.T. Mahoney State Park, 28500 W Park Hwy, Ashland, NE 68003. This location is about halfway between Lincoln and Omaha and should provide a great place for everyone to get together. http://outdoornebraska.gov/mahoney/
Why not make a weekend of it? Get a cabin or room for the weekend and bring the family. Yes, it will be October so there is always a chance for iffy weather but an even better chance we will have a gorgeous weekend. It will certainly be an opportunity for everyone to relax, maybe do some ice skating at the rink or visit the Air and Space Museum adjacent to the park or maybe your significant other would prefer to go shopping at the Nebraska Crossing Outlet Mall just a short 10 minutes from the park. Visit the website above to see what all amenities are available, they've added many new and exciting things since our last event!
Please note that a valid Nebraska Park permit is required to enter the park. Permits are available and NGPC Website for $6 for a daily pass or $31 for an annual pass ($8 & $46 for non-Nebraska registered vehicles). You can also get a daily pass at the gate upon arrival. It may be possible that a sponsor will provide us with daily passes…HINT HINT.
We are planning to have four separate Pre-cons the day before, on Friday, October 26th, 2018, at the E.T. Mahoney State Park, Peter Kiewit Lodge. These are full-day training events for only $135. Peter Kiewit Lodge at E.T. Mahoney State Park, 28500 W Park Hwy, Ashland, NE 68003 has lodging in addition to the conference space we will be using. Space is limited and will go fast as many people reserve rooms here for vacation and holidays. We currently have 12 rooms blocked out at this location, just call (402) 944-2523 and mention Lincoln SQL Server User Group to reserve your room. Room rates are $96.14 including tax. There are also a very limited number of cabins available starting at $135, but we don't have any of these blocked so first come, first served.
Where do I get my SpeedPASS?
This information will be posted as the event nears.
Do I need a Nebraska State Park Permit?
Yes, you need to have a Nebraska State Park Permit. If you have an annual permit you are good to go, but if you don't you'll need to get a daily permit. You can get this at the gate when you enter the park, but you can only imagine how long the line will be if you and 180 attendees wait to get your permit when you enter the park. A daily permit costs $6 and is good until noon the following day.
We highly recommend getting your permit in advance by visiting the Nebraska Game and Parks website to purchase your park entry permit.
Surveys for our SQLSaturday will go live on October 27th. Please take the time to let us know how we did and how the speakers did that you listened to. We appreciate your feedback.
