This event is CLOSED. We had 275 attendees participate in the event on October 25th and it was a huge success! A big thank you to our speakers and volunteers for their efforts on behalf of the SQL Server community in Central Florida, and to our fantastic sponsors that donated money and prizes to the event. We expect to hold the event again in Orlando next around the same time, and we'll post information about it as it becomes available on the home page at www.sqlsaturday.com.


 SQLSaturday #8 will be held at Seminole Community College on October 25th, 2008. Directions are posted on our Location page, and we also have a detailed map of the campus below. This is a free event open to SQL Server professionals (and those interested in becoming SQL Server professionals) that is organized by the Orlando SQL Group (www.opass.org) and hosted by Seminole Community College. A light breakfast and full lunch will be provided. All sessions are presented by volunteer speakers, and you can find details about the planned sessions on our Schedule page or by downloading the event flyer. ADVANCE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED!

Event Updates

Nov 14. The session evaluations have been published and can be downloaded from http://www.sqlsaturday.com/files/SQLSat8EvaluationResultsBySession.xps.

Oct 26. 460 registered, 80 cancelled, and 275 real attendees! Everything went well, we gave away more than 140 books and prizes, plus 3 Xboxes, an ITough, an Ipod doc, free training, and more. Congratulations to the winners, all of 275 of them who invested a day of their own time in their career and had fun doing it. We look forward to seeing you next year.

Oct 23. If you would like to make a personal donation to help support this event, use this link to contribute $7 (the cost of lunch, there is NO FEE for the event) using this PayPal payment link. Donations are optional and much appreciated, attendees will receive lunch regardless of whether they make a donation.

Oct 22, 436 total registered, 406 still slated to attend. Upon arrival at the event we'll have greeters pointing you to the check in area, where we will have three lines; last name A through M, lastname N through Z, and one for speakers and walk ins (please register here!). We will be working hard to expedite your check in process and let you get inside to have coffee and start meeting our great sponsors.

Oct 20th. Registration is now 397! We have also posted a map showing how to get to J Building on the SCC main campus (note that this is a different location than we used last year for SQLSaturday).

Oct 19th. Dress code for the event is casual, shorts/t-shirt is fine.

Oct 17th. Registration is now 381. The more or less final event guide has been uploaded. You can download to review prior to the event, and we should have printed copies in the event bag you'll receive at check-in. We had one session cancel, Sam Nasir had to decline due to a last minute work conflict. We will try to fill in the vacancy next week, but there's still plenty to choose from! Oct 15th. Someone asked how many MVP's were speaking as we don't show that piece of information on the site. Here's the list; Ken Tucker, Kent Waldrop, Nikita Polyakov, Robert Cain, Steve Jones,Jonathan Kehayias,  and Andy Warren. But remember that we have another 30 or speakers that are really the heart of the event!

Oct 14th. Registration is now at 351 and continuing to climb. Our volunteer meeting went well and we're as ready as we can get for the big day. Look for daily email updates beginning Oct 20th.

Oct  1st. Our volunteer meeting will be Oct 11 at Chipotle in Lake Mary!

Sep 23. We've confirmed our after event social location, it will be held on Oct 25th at Jax Fifth Ave Deli & Ale, 951 Greenwood Blvd. Lake Mary, FL 32746 (about 1 mile south of Lake Mary Blvd near I-4). They've got more than 30 kinds of beer on tap, try something new! We'll be meeting on the back deck. We'll buy some appetizers with whats left of the event budget, attendees buy their own drinks. We'll be starting immediately following closing ceremonies (about 5 pm)and run through at least 7:30 pm.

Sep 22. We're at 204 registered with 30 days to go, keep telling friends and colleagues. We met with the staff at site host Seminole Community College on Friday and our room selection is looking very good, we're waiting on one room confirmation and then we'll be able to post details directions - hopefully by the end of the week.

Sep 20. Our schedule is looking good, we've got a great variety of topics and speakers. We're also pleased to announce that Steve Jones of SQLServerCentral.com & End to End Training will be attending the event doing a special session titled 'The Modern Resume - Building Your Brand'. Sep 15. We're at 170 registered and still climbing! The schedule is mostly set, we've got 30+ SQL sessions and still a couple more in the pipeline.

Aug 22. Our official hotel for the event is going to be the  Homewood Suites by Hilton® Lake Mary, 755 Currency Circle, Lake Mary, Florida, United States 32746, Tel: 1-407-805-9111   Fax: 1-407-805-0236. There are quite a few other hotels in the area, but this will be the best chance of running into other attendees and speakers!
