Conventional data analytics platforms fail to live up to the data growth. According to a recent research report, companies use <1% of unstructured and less than 50% of structured data for any decision making. Enterprises are struggling to integrated different sources of the data , store and analyze the data . They are missing out on critical business insights. The modern Analytics/BI/Data Science platform requires advance data warehousing solutions that help break data silos while providing robust security and governance and without any lock-in.

With the vast amount of changes that occur in our daily business environments, it becomes more and more difficult to achieve our corporate goals without some ‘lighthouse’ to guide our way. Data mining, (while not a panacea to resolve or ‘control’ the effects of these changes), can provide us with statistical trends by analyzing our data and highlighting probable outcomes.

In this hands on BEGINNERS presentation we shall be looking at Microsoft SQL Server’s Data Mining capabilities and we shall be discussing:

1) Defining what questions we want answered and how to go about this in an effective and efficient manner.

2) Creating the data model.

3) How to gather the necessary data, discussing the training and testing aspect.

4) Processing the model.

5) Extracting information from our finished model, discussing the implications of this information.

Azure SQL DW is powerful MPP cluster for processing a big amount of structured data. But, it still requires optimization to maximize performance and optimize resource usage. Some techniques almost similar to what we do with our regular SQL Server, some of them not due to MPP architecture. In this session, I will cover next topics:
 - how to minimize the time of data loading
 - how to choose a right distribution type
 - data movement minimization
 - how scaling and resource class could help to improve data processing performance
 - maximize Column Store index performance
 - update statistics
 - partitioning strategy

Is there a gap between your advanced technical skills and your social-emotional intelligence? Are you or your employees experiencing challenges communicating effectively with others, participating as part of a team, managing emotional reactions, or socially connecting at work? Is this impacting your ability to get promoted, retain employees, or establish positive workplace morale or relationships? Do you want to increase your “likeability” factor for your professional growth?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then attending this session is a must in order for you to gain a deeper understanding of why some people struggle in the “social” realm. For many people, being “social” does not come naturally and has to be explicitly taught. In this presentation, you will learn about the mindset that is required for developing new competencies, key cognitive skills needed for social success, and tools and strategies that you can apply to increase your social intelligence skills.

Over eight percent of a data scientist job is spent on preparing and cleaning data for a machine learning model.

Like any process, there are a series of steps that take place. These steps include loading raw data, removing outliers, replacing or deleting missing values, encoding categorical features, scaling numeric features, and saving the dataset for future use. One might even engineer a new feature to get a better estimate on the label (y) given the features (x).

At the end of the class, you will have a variety of code snippets that you can use right away.

Of course, I will talk about how to get data from SQL Server, no matter where you database lives!

Data classification help us to categorize our data and find out the insight patterns of the data. Later we can use categorized data for predictive analysis. Azure ML studio has over 30 built in classic machine learning algorithms. We just need to provide data, drag and drop different components to analyze our data and find patterns. In this session, I’ll focus on data classification algorithms, features, future data point prediction and at the end will show a complete demo of creating an azure ML application in front of the audience. No previous data analysis, machine learning, azure application development experience required to attend this session.

Networking is the process of building and maintaining quality business relationships. Linda Groszyk teaches networking skills through a “social mindfulness” lens, which involves a balance of self-awareness and purposeful engagement with others. This session is focused on self-reflection and discussion in order for attendees to increase their awareness, skills, and confidence when engaged in networking opportunities. There are 4 parts to this process: Part 1: Get Clear - In this first section, we will assess our strengths and areas for growth. Part 2: Get Ready - Preparation is the key to success. In this part, we will discuss techniques for being strategic, purposeful, and prepared for any networking event. Part 3: Get Going - Participants will learn social communication and emotional regulation strategies to use when they are networking. Part 4: Get Growing - Participants will learn the type of mindset required to reflect on a networking event purposefully and with learning in mind.

Machine Learning is the future and it’s already here. There’re so many opportunities for developers to use it in a wide variety of applications. If you heard a lot about data collection and processing, creating and training models and ready to try it all yourself with the help of .NET, I’ll show you how you can use Model Builder inside your Visual Studio to do it. That model can be easily integrated into all kinds of applications including chat bots. It’ll to provide you the most accurate response for your type of data. In this session, I’ll tell you about the specifics of ML.NET and Model Builder and then show you how to integrate your custom model with an Azure Web App Bot.

Must developers use the Power BI desktop application to design the report using standard visuals and publish to the Azure Power BI service for sharing in a production environment.

Out of the box, Power BI has 29 visuals. There are an additional 200+ custom visuals that can be down loaded from "AppSource" site at Microsoft.com.

While there are many choices, you might not have the right visual that can be customized the way you want for a given business problem . How do you solve this problem?

Recently, the Power BI Service now supports Python scripting using libraries such as "matplotlib", "pandas" and "seaborn". In this presentation, we will learn how to add scripting to the desktop designer to solve that tricky business report.
