What's Up with SQLSaturday Tweener Weekend?

Thanks to a lot of work from Joe Healy at Microsoft all of the technical communities in Florida have been given access to meeting space at the Orange County Convention Center during the middle weekend of Microsoft Tech (June 7-8, 2008). We're making the most of it by bringing in some of the best local speakers in the community! The 'tweener' is for the 'in between' weekend! We're actually conducting two separate events, one on Saturday and one on Sunday, you have to register for the events separately. Don't forget that in addition to SQL Server there are parallel events for .Net, SharePoint, and more!

SQLSaturday #4 (Sat)

On Satuday June 7th we've put together three great tracks; DBA, Business Intelligence, and Data Developer. Each track has four sessions and each session will run a little longer than usual, about 75 minutes. We went back through the SQLSaturday archives and picked some of the most popular speakers & sessions, with the focus on local community talent. Check in starts at 8 am, sessions begin at 9 am, and we'll wrap up about 4 pm. We're hoping to have the standard (or better!) after party, but that's still in progress. The event is being coordinated by Andy Warren, Pam Shaw, and Brian Knight, all leaders of SQL Server user groups in Florida. There is a $10 fee for parking

Lunch time entertainment - read carefully!

  • First, we're going to be drawing names for two winners to demolish a printer just like in Office Space! We'll provide the printer, two very nice baseball bats, safety goggles and gloves. Did we mention we'll capture the video and make you famous too?
  • Next, to really see what you've got, we're inviting all attendees to do their best 60 second impersonation of an Office Space scene. We'll have a boom box and the sound track, you can go solo or do it as a group. Winning person/group gets $100...in cash!...from End to End Training, 2nd & 3rd place get Office Space gift packs from ThinkGeek. You know you've all repeated your favorite lines a few times, why not have some fun while you enjoy the lunch break?
  • And last...unconfirmed but very likely, we expect a visit from SQLSaturdayMan!

SQLSaturday #4 (Sun)

On Sunday June 8th we're going with a different format. There will be a three hour presentation Sunday morning on SSIS by Brian Knight, and then after lunch Andy Warren will teach DBA 101. Both will be a combination of presentation and class, so bring your laptop so you can follow along. There is a $10 fee for parking!
